Hi! We’re so glad you dropped by! Here at the Gluten Free Homestead, we’ve been cooking and living gluten-free for thirteen years. Whether you’ve just started following a gluten-free diet or have been eating gluten-free for years, we hope you will find lots of new recipes to try.
Our mission doesn’t just stop with sharing our healthy and great-tasting gluten-free recipes. Over the years we’ve discovered that simply substituting gluten containing ingredients with gluten-free ingredients is not enough. We have adopted a diet based on whole foods (organic whenever possible) and follow a disciplined fitness and rest routine. Here on the blog, we share what we’ve learned about gluten-free living, health, fitness and the abundant life.
The Gluten Free Homestead is run by John and Barbara, who have a passion for healthy living. A little bit more about John and Barbara below:
Barbara loves to bring fun into the kitchen and healthy food to the table. She has a passion for making gluten-free food taste good. She also enjoys drinking coffee, eating a little dark chocolate, reading a good novel, going for walks, and spending time with her family and friends.
She likes to tell people that 60 is the new 40. She’s finding that lifting heavy weights in the gym makes it easier to lift heavy cast iron pans in the kitchen.
John is a retired doctor of podiatric medicine. During his days as a podiatrist, he specialized in orthopedics and surgery.
Unfortunately, a decades-long battle with chronic fatigue syndrome complicated by non-celiac gluten sensitivity and adrenal fatigue caused him to stop practicing.
Today after recovering from those chronic health issues John is able to bring a unique perspective to his articles on health and wellness.
He likes to tell people that at 60, he’s back in the gym setting personal records in power lifting.
