When young children are diagnosed with celiac disease, switching to a gluten free diet can be difficult. It is hard to find alternatives to their favorite foods. That’s why I’m always excited when I discover kid-friendly gluten free foods like delicious mac & cheese or pizza or even chocolate chip cookies. Today for lunch, my children enjoyed gluten free chicken nuggets thanks to Bell & Evans. Not only are these nuggets tasty and gluten free, they are also much healthier than the ones found in many kid’s meals at fast food chains. This chicken tastes like real chicken, fresh and perfectly cooked.
Bell & Evans Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets contain no chemical additives or preservatives. All Bell & Evans chickens are raised without antibiotics. The company assures, “They receive no antibiotics and no growth hormones in the feed, the water or even the egg…The Bell & Evans Humane Animal Standard™ insures all of our chickens are humanely raised and compassionately handled, in a minimal-stress environment, throughout their lives.” The nuggets are breaded with egg, rice flour, and yellow corn flour. They are flash fried in soybean oil to set the breading.
Quick and Easy Prep and Cook Time
Keep the nuggets frozen until you are ready to eat them. To cook the nuggets, preheat the oven to 375℉. The nuggets do not need to be defrosted before cooking. Simply spread them on a baking sheet and bake them in the oven for 25-30 minutes. My family has only tried baking the nuggets, but Bell & Evans also suggests that they can be pan fried for 10-12 minutes. Either way you choose, the nuggets are undoubtedly quick and easy to prepare.
The nuggets can be lightly salted or paired with your favorite dip. In my family, some of us enjoy the nuggets with gluten free barbecue sauce (check out our favorite products page for several options). Others like to dip the nuggets in gluten free ketchup. And some of us prefer a more Asian twist with hot mustard or San J Organic Gluten Free Tamari Sauce.
Bell & Evans gluten free chicken nuggets are perfect if you’re having a busy morning and need something easy to prepare for lunch. Just pop them in the oven while you finish working on your morning projects and voila! Surprise your kids with a hot meal for lunch. The package comes with 12 ounces of chicken, enough to feed three hungry children. Here at the Homestead we definitely recommend these chicken nuggets. In fact, they are no longer considered only a kid-friendly food as the whole family enjoys these nuggets and often seems to devour them in a matter of minutes.
